32 DIE A WEEK AFTER FAILING TEST FOR NEW INCAPACITY BENEFIT and being found fit for work by ATOS. (Daily Mirror).

Please join us (assemble outside the Jobcentre Plus building) for a Demonstration against ATOS as part of Disabled People Against Cuts (DPACC) Atos Games – five days of action against a company that’s sponsoring the Paralympics but wrecking disabled people’s lives. Details of the 5 days of action can be found on www.dpac.uk.net

We’re not against the Paralympics or the people taking part in it
. We’re highlighting the hypocrisy of Atos, a company that soon may be taking disability benefits from the people winning medals for Team GB.

The Government is attempting to decimate the social security offered to thousands of people with physical and mental health issues They are allowing a private firm to profit from the process.

Atos is the French company that holds the government contract to carry out work capability assessments (wca) on disabled people. There has been widespread outcry against the underhand and cruel working practices of Atos which lead to many cases of hardship and heartache with examples such as:-

“My partner died last week of kidney cancer. He was diagnosed a year ago and at Christmas was told he had about four months to live. In the spring he was summoned for a work capability assessment (by this time he had two brain tumours) and found fit for work.”

Ever since George Osborne announced he was slashing £18 billion from the welfare budget, the government has paid Atos £100 million a year to test 11,000sick and disabled people every week, then decide whether they’re ‘fit for work’.

Atos uses an inhumane computer programme to do the testing, and trains its staff to push people off benefits. The government has admitted the tests are flawed, and the British Medical Association wants them to end immediately.

ATOS DON'T GIVE A TOSS – IF WE DON'T GIVE ATOS THEY WILL CONTINUE TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER.
